German-French Garden
The actual open-air festival will run from June 28 to June 30, 2024 on the picnic meadow in the Südmulde in the Franco-German Garden. The extensive park is located in the southwest of the city near the “Goldene Bremm” border crossing. The garden, which was designed jointly by German and French garden architects, is a symbol of the friendship between France and the Federal Republic of Germany and was opened in 1960 as the “Franco-German Garden Show” by Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and the French Prime Minister Michel Debré – on the very spot where the battles of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 and the First and Second World Wars once raged. Today, the DFG is a common recreational area for Germans and French.
The idyllic park offers a varied garden landscape. There is a small lake at the northern end of the Deutschmühlental. Our festival hotel Victor’s is also located here. To the south is a landscape of extensive meadows and woods, as well as colorful flowerbeds, a heather garden and a rose garden. In the center of the park is the concert shell with a gastronomic offer and the water organ.
During the festival days, the action takes place in the south hollow at the “upper” south entrance. The stage is located on a picnic area surrounded by trees, which rises slightly towards the back and always allows a perfect view of the stage.
