When Rebekka Bakken sings, you realise almost immediately that you are listening to one of Scandinavia\u2019s most striking voices. Transcending all genre boundaries, the singer-songwriter has outgrown any pigeonholing and draws stylistic influences from all corners, be it the folk music of her homeland or country & western from the distant USA.
She pays tribute to Tom Waits and Ludwig Hirsch with cover versions, just as she does to the Beatles. Many of her compositions reflect her own life story, and together with her stage banter, this paints a picture of a sensitive and emotional woman who is able to convey all the facets of her soul to the audience through the highest art of singing.
Rebekka Bakken knows how to showcase her compositions to perfection; her voice possesses enormous power and depth. One gets the impression that there is nothing this woman cannot sing. Her songs tell of love, longing, separation \u2013 but how! Her voice is at times gentle and loving, at others snotty, aggressive, shrill and loud. Rebekka Bakken writes and sings from the depths of her soul, instinctively and openly, striking right at the heart of our emotional world; we feel immediately addressed. No wonder, then, that the press is also full of praise. The FAZ wrote: \u201cA siren. Anyone who hears her is lost. Swedish Mardi Gras \u2013 a colourful jazz party<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s hard to describe the Swedish band Louisiana Avenue; you simply have to experience them. The eight lads led by singer P\u00e4r Stenhammar pay homage to one of the world\u2019s greatest carnival celebrations \u2013 Mardi Gras. They draw their music from the bubbling melting pot of New Orleans jazz and blend this sound with a variety of styles such as soul, funk and blues \u2013 often artfully interwoven. Alongside the colourful stage costumes, which look as though they\u2019ve been plucked straight from a Mardi Gras parade, the carnival atmosphere is heightened by elements such as inflatable unicorns, plastic necklaces, parasols and several extravagant costume changes. The band thus creates a party to which absolutely everyone is invited!
Behind the exuberant and high-energy stage shows, however, lies a sincere philosophy of love. The group describes itself as a \u2018message-driven joy orchestra\u2019 \u2013 an orchestra that brings joy and conveys a message, whose core value is the natural inclusion of everyone. Regardless of age, background or physical condition \u2013 everyone is warmly welcome in the world of Louisiana Avenue. The band invites you to a colourful party where anything can happen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
